I wish every sport people liked could be an official sport at BYU but that's

not how it works. Wrestling was dropped when they were a very good program and on the rise with several consecutive top 5 recruiting classes. The new swimming facility had boosters ready to pay for an Olympic size pool and facilities. Lacrosse had boosters ready to fund that sport fully if BYU added it. Be grateful they even allow club soccer. Someday it may go the way of BYU hockey and be told they're no longer allowed to use the BYU logos and brand. But I can still buy a BYU hockey jersey at the bookstore!

Equal scholarships is a myth. You can add men's soccer and not have to worry about adding a women's sport.

There are 205 D1 men's soccer programs including 50 from FBS schools. I wouldn't describe that has being "few".

Title IX is not a barrier. If it is proven that there is a demand for a sport, men or women, it can be done.
