In both the KD and Beal deals, the dealing teams were in a bad spot and needing to trade their star player, and in both cases, they came away with a haul. That’s the thing that worries me about what the Suns are doing. They’re acquiring players but losing the actual trade scenario. Too many picks for Durant, who very publicly wanted out. Too many picks for Beal, who they needed to trade and he has that awful contract. Phoenix is getting fleeced on the actual trades.
