Getting a perennial all-star for CP3, Shamet and change. They now have a cap space problem which is much easier than getting talent. They also need to figure out how to maximize the value of 3 all-stars.
They have a tight window of maybe three years to win a championship and if things go badly even less time. If the Jazz needed one more piece, they would have been in the mix to acquire Beal.
Good for Phoenix who responded to the call to trade. That they got a great deal makes me happy for them to an extent. Someday I want the Jazz to be in that position. One more piece for a run at a championship.
As far as Washington, they have put the fun in dysfunctional for a long time. Their failure to build a competitive team with Beal is all the evidence you need of incompetence. They are in a rebuild, but have to unwind a whole bunch of bad decisions to get enough flexibility to do anything.
