Swarmed bees are full of honey, and are not protecting a hive, so they are very
docile. They are so engorged with honey (to survive on until they find a new home) that they literally cannot sting you. Once they establish a hive, then watch out.

The swarm will try to stay clumped for two reasons: (1) to protect the queen that is somewhere in there, and (2) they are waiting for the scout bees to come back and let them know where they are going to move to.
