My honeybees swarmed again. Captured swarm in a cardboard box (video links)
This is the same colony that swarmed about two weeks ago. I was a little surprised when my wife called me. The swarm landed in our neighbors apple tree. Sorry for the video angle, I think my wife was a bit anxious and forgot to turn the camera horizontal (video is less than 2 minutes). The ladder was on a hill, so she had to stand with her foot on the ladder (so I wouldn't fall backwards) while she was videoing the swarm catch:
The second video is when we dump the cardboard box of bees into the nuc box (nuc is a small hive). Just before I dump it, I show the inside of the box. Covered with bees. This video is about 1:30.
This thing is so fascinating my head is spinning. I woke up and couldn't stop thinking about it. That was a rush to capture a swarm off of a tree. I kept saying to my wife last night, "that was so much fun". I thought if I posted something, I could stop thinking about it and get back to sleep...probably not.
The problem now is that I don't have any more boxes. I expect my other hive (that hasn't swarmed yet, while my 2nd one has swarmed twice now). I am going to try to sell this swarm nuc (about $150).
I knew this was going to be cool, but I would use the word amazing to describe my experience thus far. Wow, just wow...so fascinating, and trying to figure it out is like a puzzle I have never experienced before. Hope you enjoy the videos as much as I enjoyed making them...
