Fair, but it seems like penalties for roughing the passer and blindside blocks
are doing their job and those penalties are not, in and of themselves, enough for an ejection.

I like Joe Klatt's take on targeting.

No to fines, no to penalty boxes. 15 yards is sufficient

Agreed. Even in instances of actual targeting it rarely seems malicious

The refs can't even get the call right half the time, so even less reason to eject the player

if you can't get the call right, maybe they should get rid of it altogether

The targeting penalty has caused malicious hits to the head to dissappear.

And your reasoning?

My reasoning is that the foul doesn't merit that kind of reaction

I think it's a bit more than virtue signaling - the NCAA needs to show it's serious about

I think 15 yards is sufficient in most cases, but the refs should have discretion to eject a player

It's a personal foul and just like every personal foul, the first offense should be a 15 yard penalty...

The ejection is for multiple unsportsmanlike personal fouls, not late hits or illegal hits

Intentionally using your head in an tackle should be viewed as unsportsmanlike

Do you give refs special headgear to divine intent?

The noncall targeting call in the ASU/Texas game in my opinion should be a no call...

I love the penalty box idea.

Seemed impossible for ASU to commit holding after Texas jumped on them early

You can't fix targeting until you fix football's fundamentals.

I agree, guys are running forward as fast as they can, of course their head is

Any two 15-yard penalties by any one player in any one game results in disqualification from the remainder of the game.

You have to sit out as long as the player you hit is out.
