Companies may start out well intentioned and want to maintain a profit margin while also generously compensating employees. Most employees now have zero incentive to help the product succeed behind the bare minimum. Most companies don't value loyalty.
Unfortunately, it always devolves into what we see here. In my experience, I've seen more corporations suck the life out of a great product like a parasite until it's dead. Then they sell it off after it's been all but killed. Unions do it too, but seldom have the necessary leverage over company leadership to be effective.
I'll enjoy watching it from afar. I've always been more of a backcountry person anyways.
