The ski patrol obviously is vital to a well functioning resort and provide invaluable services.
But I doubt the majority of them actually live in Park City and expect to make a wage that allows them to live there. But living in the SLC valley isn't affordable at those wages either. Most Ski Patrol people I know in other areas do it basically for free access to the mountain and don't expect to be paid a lot. In think Park City is caught in between a rock and a hard place on this one.
