You'll see it all the time now if you look. That's the gesture most return guys use when they are standing at the goal
line and letting the ball sail over their heads. I think the idea is to limit unnecessary contact from return coverage teams. Guys running downfield see that and they can pull up without running full speed into blockers and engaging.
