He claims BYU was not in the conversation, We were in the conversation ever since BYU beat KState in September, so I definitely don't agree with that point. We were definitely in the conversation.
So the real question, did BYU get snubbed?
I don't think so. . . Mostly because BYU had a weaker schedule
We didn't win a CCG, so we need one of the 7 at-large positions.
Texas, Notre Dame, and Penn State each had better records with a tougher SOS. . . I don't think anyone is arguing BYU gets in over those 3.
Ohio State and Tennessee = Same Record with a better SOS and more quality wins. I don't think anyone is arguing BYU gets in over those 2 teams.
Lastly you got the only 2 real options
Indiana - Better record at 11-1 with a pretty weak SOS. . . But Indiana didn't need last minute 4th qtr drives to win multiple games against weak teams. Each team played 4 bowl eligible teams, and went 3-1 against them. With the better records and slightly worse SOS. . . BYU can't reasonably say they deserve Indiana's spot.
SMU - Same exact story as Indiana. . Better Record at 11-1 (or 11-2 if you don't believe the Committee's CCG won't count against you mantra). While they lost the head to head with BYU, I personally think they have a better Resume than Indiana, and should have been the #10 seed. . .But I digress. They deserved a spot over BYU.
Or you could just look at the old BCS Computers which Mathematically agree that BYU does not get an at-large bid.
I wish BYU got into the CFP playoffs, I really hope they get there next year. . . But as soon as BYU got their 2nd loss, the chances of making the playoffs go down a lot. . . Especially if we only play 4 bowl eligible teams and need multiple last minute miracles to beat bowl ineligible teams.
