… show some fight and demand more respect for the team/program.
Two of our own fans on this thread said BYU “went 1-3 down the stretch” (what the what?!?)
It’s reflective of how most BYU fans are so conditioned to have to be perfect/undefeated to “earn” or “deserve” respect. Clearly this is based on decades of being in the G5/Indy and how BYU has always been treated there. Many “fans” clearly tune out once that perfect record is gone as they don’t even know the team’s record.
This team ABSOLUTELY should have been in the conversation for the final at-large spot and could have competed for a first round win. I think BYU, losing a funky tie-breaker, would have beaten ASU in a rematch in the Big12 championship game and received the first round bye.
Sooo many of our own fans and BYU media have so little fight and don’t push back against the national media and Big10/SEC power complex that exist to prop up their own biggest brands. Some of the Big12 guys like John Kurtz and Drake Toll seem to fight for BYU’s respect more than most of our own fans/media.
You have to get in the CFP to make noise and gain respect and this team could have made some noise. You may feel BYU didn’t deserve to get in based on the Kansas or ASU loss(es), but that didn’t stop Bama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Indiana, South Carolina, SMU fans from downplaying their own gaps or warts on their own resumes… and they demanded respect and CFP inclusion for their teams.
If we don’t fight for our Cougs, who will?
