You need a phone to connect with it, but he didn't know there was a phone tied to it so it stayed in our bedroom without him knowing about it.

I wouldn't say it was flawless, but it worked. He could text and call, but he couldn't do much else, which was great. Kids can be monsters and him having a watch kept the 'you don't have a phone?' taunts at bay.

We had a friend so the same with an apple watch and that seemed to be more seamless. But I'm not familiar.
