My daughter is about to turn twelve, and is getting involved in enough activities that we are thinking of getting her a phone, which could double as an emergency phone.

We are trying to straddle the line between introducing her to the world of technology and not having her swallowed by it. We had thought about just getting her a prepaid minutes dumb phone, but that is apparently not much of an option. What have you done for your kids with this? I have heard of Gabb and Pinwheel, but I am curious about the CB collective consciousness.
