would not be covered in some European countries and only partially covered in Canada. I'd be interested in knowing if her insurance did cover some more basic options as it appears that's what some companies and public insurances do (in addition to age requirements).
Personally, I think it was a huge mistake to take the girl there, try it on, use it for a week, and then tell her she can't have it. Seems like it's something I would have checked into before getting my daughters hopes up. that being said, I am super happy she got one given to her and that she used the donated money for to help someone else get one. that was super cool.
