And, rigid divisional scheduling has unintended consequences. If you went with your proposed divisions, ASU, BYU, and Colorado would have all played each other such that the likelihood is that the West division winner finishes with a 9-3 or even 8-4 record. If the West winner the beats Iowa State in the CCG, we may be battling the AAC champion for the 12th CFP spot with the real risk to be left out completely...because of the divisional and CCG structure.
That would be a horrible result for the conference.
