Make week 14 (last week of the regular season) a flexible slate.
Have the 1st place team in the conference host the 4th place team and the 2nd place host the 3rd in a pair of conference semifinal matchups.
Have everyone else play the closest ranked team to them (that they haven't played yet).
Immediately you create two massive resume building wins for 2 of your top 4 teams, who will then get to play each other the next week in the conference championship game. Doesn't add any games to the schedule, allows you to still play a 9 game conf. schedule, and gets rid of silly tie breakers for 3rd and 4th.
This year we could have have had Colorado @ ASU and BYU @ ISU to determine the title game.
You can't tell me that wouldn't have resulted in stronger playoff resumes/profiles for the two teams that make the final.
