This sort of thing makes me think of the story President Hinckley shared in conference about the woman who had a frozen
turkey hurled at her car by a bunch of teenagers. I really hope that 1. the BYU coach is not permanently injured and will make a speedy recovery, 2. the teenager involved recognizes how truly awful his actions were and feels genuine and real remorse to the point of changing his behavior, and 3. his life and future isn't ruined by one stupid action.
