If they don’t pan out, it’s not the coaches fault. If they do pan out, it’s not because of the coaches either — it just is.
Lots of 4 and 5 star guys have “amazing coaches” and don’t pan out. Lots of low star or no star QBs turn out great and it isn’t because the coach is a magician.
But again the point is — as a general rule, the data shows higher rated players generally turn out more than low rated guys so it is important to be in the hunt for the high rated players. Crossing your fingers that the diamonds in the rough just happen to pan out is not what the top programs do. The top programs sit in the living rooms of the best recruits and they hope those recruits make them look good.
