I talked to a guy at church on Sunday who claimed to be close to the Queen Creek football program, and sadly said the same negative story we keep hearing regarding high profile LDS recruits. He said BYU “missed out” on him, with claims that BYU didn’t show much interest until after Clemson had already offered. They originally wanted him for baseball, but ended up offering him a scholarship to play football there too.

The 247 timeline doesn’t support that story, as BYU offered him way back in 2023, and was one of his earliest offers, long before they reported the Clemson offer.

I tend to take those stories with high level of skepticism and give our coaches the benefit of the doubt. But still hurts when these kids go to other programs, and people start telling these stories.
