There are all kinds of resources that she may be able to utilize through the church.
The issue of the scam aside, you do need to be doing SOMETHING to make sure she's going to be able to provide for herself and your child. Get her back in the English classes, look at online schooling options.
Even something very low-level might be a good place to start... Housekeeping, janitorial, etc
