There apparently weren’t any other MWC schools willing to cough up $17M for

a tiny PAC payout. Obviously, they have a broadcast partner lined up and an eye in 2 teams returning from the ACC when it blows up. Or pick best of AAC.

I can’t imagine any Big 12 teams leaving for that conference. It would only be slightly better than MWC or AAC.
