He went into a coma for 5 days. Had permanent kidney damage. Nobody had a clue he was T1D until he went crazy
He is a big kid and medical personnel had a hard time getting him in an ambulance. He was pretty lucky to survive the ride to Primary Children’s.
This was about 10 years ago. He is on dialysis now unfortunately (got another 9 years out of his kidneys). Still a young kid in his 20’s.

Yeah some of these non compliant type 1 diabetics can really start to become resilient in the face of some high sugars.

Hmm good question. I’m not sure, but I’ve had some really old people in the 40s that I know were still alert.
