His leaving was a mutual decision.

After that horrible season, Ty spent more time hunting than on the BYU campus. Every QB in the 2017 QB signing class knew Ty wouldn't be around.

Detmer is the GOAT. If you listen to any interview he's given you can tell he had more to do with his leaving than was reported. Some people are not happy being college coaches.
