does not have the same meaning to them as it does to average or even above average earners. How does one explain, then, the construction workers, warehouse workers, etc who make less than 70k rolling in the tricked out F-150s that run 80k plus? They are driving vehicles that cost more than their annual salary.
Also, I know several wealthy people who hate wasting money on depreciating cars, and they probably wouldn’t spend over $40k on a car if you held a gun to their heads.
So it seems to boil down to priorities: what is most important and valuable to a person. I have a very wealthy relative who purchased a new Lexus SUV and told me he knew it would depreciate more than $7k within 6 months or so, but he didn’t care because, “That’s the exact car I wanted.”
Alright then. Everyone has their priorities.
