We wouldn't even have to plunder athletes from other sports, if we would take all those guys who were great HS and college point guards but top out at 5'9" or 5'10" and give them intense foot training instead of hand training from youth. Or a guy like Mookie Betts. You can't tell me that his hand eye coordination wouldn't have translated into soccer, if he'd been trained in that sport instead.

There are more than enough athletes in this country to field highly competitive soccer teams.
