Honest question: Would the USA contend on a world stage if...
Soccer wasn't the fourth, maybe fifth most popular sport in the country? (Non scientific order: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Soccer)

Let's say you take Tyreek Hill from age 4 and train him in soccer...he's probably an international star. Or how about Christian McCaffery? There are too many to count actually. So many freakish LB's that run a sub 4.6 40. Put them on the back line and teams simply don't score. Some crazy athletic short stops and outfielders. Point guards that command a court. Some huge goalies. Fast wings. Skilled forwards. We'd be unstoppable right? Take the Billions we pour into other sports and channel that to soccer, and what do you get?

We are the richest and most prosperous country in history, and with the combined resources, we could win every world cup. It'd be like the 92 dream team in a generation if we could somehow change our focus. I almost wish we could make it happen just once. But then again, my love for Football crushes my love for Soccer.

Just a random thought for you this Tuesday. Have a great 4th, Cougarboard!
