If it's a trip with kids go to Glenwood. Iron mountain Hot springs is a great resort there and they have a gondola up the mountain as well to take you to Glenwood caverns. There are rides, food, and of course guided tours into the caves.

If it's just going to be your wife and you my wife recommends Pagosa Springs. There you both can get away, find peace and self care at The Springs resort.

She isn't wrong. We've been to both and we really liked Glenwood, but loved Pagosa.
