He's in his second year at BYU-I but still struggles with everyday tasks and needing to be micromanaged. He hates church and goes rarely — not sure how he gets his ecc endorsement. I envy you families with kids who desire to do a service mission.
Since I hung out with him over the weekend, I noticed (via phone sharing location) that he missed all his classes Monday and Tuesday, as well as a job interview appointment (he had a job as a freshman but quit after a few weeks), as I assume he needed his weekend of free-time routines that we interrupted/displaced by being there.
I try to be flexible on his future possibilities, but it's hard to be hopeful. He lacks some of those sharp mental abilities and positive personalities that other autistics have, and he's socially anxious like me, unfortunately.
The possibilities seem to be: get kicked out of school and live with parents, bouncing from menial jobs until we die (no other siblings); get a degree but work non-professional jobs (since he has no practical skills) while living with parents; join the military (do they take those with autism?) and see how long that lasts and then move back in with parents.
