bit naughty? I know they love their dogs, but they would love another and it's an established fact that the particular breed of dog, unless properly trained, has issues. Sure, there have been ones that go all through their lives and never cause any problem. That's a given, BUT, more so than other breeds, the number of attacks by members of this breed are highlighted more because they tend to be more destructive than others.
Growing up, my grandfather lived next door. He had a bull mastiff. They are not the same as a pit bull, but are largely used as guard dogs (think Hercules in The Sandlot--he was an Old English Mastiff, which look about the same, but much bigger) The dog bit my brother on his head when he was 7-years-old and he needed stitches. He bit our cat and broke it's back. Miraculously, it survived and recovered. I both loved and feared the dog. It was born a month before me, so I grew up with it. It would be so joyous when you would unchain it from it's lead wire in the morning, but when you had to "tie it back up" at the end of the day, he didn't like that and would often nip at my fingers. That scared me as a young boy. If my mother would raise her voice toward me or my two brothers, the dog would growl at her and she knew to never discipline us in view of the dog. I was rescued from a spanking or two because of the dog--hard to not like that.
It's not that there aren't good and well behaved pit bulls, it's just the breed has known tendencies, if not properly trained, to be a bit too defensive and they simply have such a powerful jaw that they can wreak havoc and kill their current enemy.
