The viewership, conference take down money and credibility of Utah's BCS runs (and TCU's) had far more impact
on the MWC than anything BYU did.
BYU fans tend to look at BYU as a dominant national player during the MWC...in reality, their performance was more like Utah in the Pac-12. But without the CCG wins and the Rose Bowl.
BYU was great in the WAC. No question. But the MW era was more Utah. More wins, more notoriety, more money, and the last few years more viewership.
Utah's propensity to be ranked, in many cases top 5-10, has the ability to draw audiences BYU hasn't been able to draw. The Big 12 won't be any different.
Utah has reached the 4 million viewer mark 8 times in the last 3-4 seasons. BYU hasn't touched that mark in over a decade.
