The bigger tiles won't work for the floor but if you did build up a platform for the tub & not a free standing tub the

big tiles would work great for the walls, tub skirt, and deck around a drop in tub.

I'd also tile the ceiling and take the glass all the way up so it closes up snug. You can get pretty close to a steam shower that way.

It would probably be your best way to get a bigger shower and not just eliminate the tub.

We are just starting ours. Rip out the jetted tub, enlarge shower. Haven't decided if we enclose it all in one or not.

We would use larger tile (12x24 at least) & maybe a drop in tub w/ platform (easier for short old people to get in).

Without a wall between the shower & tub, both areas can share floor space and be bigger than it they are separate.
