Raise ticket prices, work harder on getting donations, etc. Academics and athletics don't go hand-in-hand for the majority of students. Not sure why you'd expect them to bear the cost of improving the athletic product.

And, even though I love BYU sports, I'm still not sold on having athletic teams tied to universities in the first place.
