for everything that was supposedly wrong with BYU football. Bronco was the source of all the program's ills; he wasn't even a "BYU guy" according to some here. Once he was gone BYU would naturally Rise Up to its full potential, especially with Kalani's outstanding recruiting classes and TY FREAKING DETMER! calling the plays.

None of that has come true; instead the program has regressed to its worst record in 50 years under Kalani's tutelage and Detmer's play calling. To make matters worse during the same time Bronco and Anae have turned around a dumpster-fire of a program in Virginia, and those odd, dorky coaching methods which were once smugly derided by all the Smart People in the Utah sports media are now being praised as innovative models of leadership and motivation and character development by Virginia fans and sports media.

This is the real reason people are so eager to blame this season on Bronco: Because otherwise they would be forced to admit that they were wrong about him and his coaching abilities, and for some that idea is simply intolerable.
