It was an opposition brief from the Defendant (MLB). The case settled.
It was a declaratory action so they people sued MLB requesting that the court say that they weren't infringing on by selling their napkin box covers.

And then MLB paid the filing fee and said they'd leave this group alone and the people dropped the action.

Regardless, I didn't see ds7's original link and it has literally nothing to due players likeness issue, as you said above.
