Negligently injuring a child leads to a lifetime of economic and hedonic damages. Thus, awards for those cases are comparatively much, much higher.
The damages for negligently injuring an elderly man at the VA are more limited.
In light of the above, it stands to reason that OBs pay by far the highest insurance premiums. They are the most at risk.

Otoh, malpractice premiums are ridiculous. OBs routinely pay 6 figures a year in premiums. If tort reform would
