Because the risk of throwing a bad pass is inherent in that call (and there's actual, VERY recent precedent a la last week), and you have FAR more viable and safe alternatives which are more likely to succeed, you do not make that call in that situation if you are Arod with the personnel grouping and opposition we had last night. Period. Ever.
It's an F- play call. Instant expulsion from the play caller's academy, and a forever ban on one's entire lineage for all eternity. It is the new standard for the Green Rake award, and one that will be difficult to eclipse.
And also, Jake's pass could scarcely have been worse. Two things can be true at once, and unfortunately, all of the above applies to the play in question that largely cost us the game and everything attached to it last night.
