Worst thing to happen to mothers was the invention of labor saving devices like dish washers or laundry machines. She said that when she was a child, everyone worked hard, so it was expected that everyone help out with the chores in the home. No one was exempt.
Once those inventions were common in the home, there was a shift in the attitudes. It turned to where the mother was expected to do it all... and that it wasn't a fair tradeoff. EVERYONE should be willing to help the home run smoothly. No exceptions. Spouse, kids... everyone had a portion to do. I agree with her.
