Y-ohCoug Walk-on
I am old enough to remember all of this.
I was just a new Cougar fan at the time. LaVell had established the program and the QB factory.

Nielson to Wilson to McMahon. Three straight College HOF QBs. And here was an LDS QB coming out of CA with his highly recruited LDS WR. BYU fans thought it was almost a given that we would sign them. Salisbury would likely sit a couple of years learning, as had happened with the previous QBs , and be ready to take over the reigns after You g.

And then Salisbury committed to USC. If CB had existed at the time the meltdown would have been epic. Bosco was then brought in as what was considered to be a very poor consolation prize.

And the rest is history. Bosco waited his turn and then led us to two great seasons. Without the perfect bomb he threw to Adam Haysbert against Pitt there would be no National Championship trophy in Provo. I have sometimes wondered if Salisbury would have had similar success.

Funny how things work out. I have often thought of this when we miss on a big recruit. Things rarely work out as expected.

Great post!
