Utah has been pretty good the past while and is starting to get a degree of respect as a solid team with a clear blue collar identity. I travel around and run into a fair number of people who think highly of their program.
But they are also relatively new. They have to keep it up or risk losing the gains they've made.
BYU hasn't been nearly as good or as relevant in the last ... 15 years? But BYU has more history, and BYU is a unique institution, so is always widely known and recognizable. BYU has a solid base to their brand, but right now are largely reliant on history more than recent success
Right now, both schools are in a good spot, but in different ways. Utah's recent trajectory is better, BYU probably has a higher ceiling if they can get up to Utah's level on the field. If you look at the linked post, both Utah and BYU has good years in drawing more viewers than is typical
