hard to say...
...Lavell had a bigger offer (an NFL coaching offer) and he coached back in the day when BYU didn't even try to pay their HC fair market value and yet he turned it down. I can't say what I'd do in that situation for sure because I've never been in that. I have a tendency to be loyal but even then I've still changed jobs (my avg length of stay at an employer is around 10 yrs) when it appeared there were changes on the horizon that would impact the viability of the business I was in. I've never left a job for the same job somewhere else that paid more and instead my MO was to look to maximize my earning potential where I was at.

However, as I mentioned, I've left jobs when it appeared that as an industry it was either facing trouble due to changing/emerging technology or economics were making it hard to stay relevant in the market place and even took a drastic cut in pay to make one of the changes.

I'm sure the increase in pay was enticing to Bronco (maybe a 50% pay raise) but I've also no doubt that Bronco realized he was looking ahead to some challenging years with major depth issues at key skill positions on offense and rather than go through the storm he left it to someone else to weather and clean up. He finished the 2015 season with no assurety that Taysom was going to play another year (at BYU, somewhere else as a grad transfer, or at all) and if Jamaal would make it back and if he'd be healthy (let alone return with a remade NFL body). The writing was on the wall and I don't doubt it played a big role in his decision making.

Think about it, fans were dissatisfied enough with the run of 8 win seasons, under-performing offenses, losing streak to Utah and recent struggles vs Utah St even. Do you think he relished the idea of going through a rebuilding season or two that was looming on the horizon if he stuck around?
