Backside is a hard thing to do. Take a look at chest pain. Millions of patients are admitted each year to rule out myocardial ischemia. 99% of these admissions are filled with useless test and work up to identify patients at risk for a future heart attack. Many question the utility of these work ups but it is standard or care. Even standard if care medicine is now defensive medicine.
If a physician really cared about his patients he would not subject them to the physical, financial, time consuming, and emotional burden of unnecessary test and hospitalizations. Unfortunately they do and they do it because the don't want to miss anything. And you would be considered dangerous and reckless to do otherwise.
