I don’t think that’s the case at all.

I think a lot of people are thinking that this kid may be able to have consequences and learn a lesson without it having long lasting negative impact beyond the lesson learned.

If he has a history and pattern of violence, then throw the book at him and let the full weight of the law come down in him.

I’d this guy has no criminal record of prior offenses, then teach him a meaningful lesson without causing harm to future plans.
