In some circles he is probably a local hero. It was mentioned that the perpetrator posted what he had done on social media, so there must be an audience that would have approved.
The reality is that most U fans are likely decent people, and the bad ones are probably the minority. But they are a loud minority, and WAY out of line, and no one seems to want to at least try and temper these behaviors. As a result the entire university looks bad, and people are noticing. And it doesn't help that those at the very top are adding fuel to the fire. The U really needs to get its act together.
