If you want to be fit, intensity matters, weight loss drugs don't matter so much, eating enough to sustain your workouts matters, and I actually think one can exercise their way to fitness rather than dieting their way there. I ate 5000 calories yesterday, and had a deficit, but I was focused on endurance/fitness and not really losing weight.
I actually agree with most of what you've said about losing weight, but just think losing weight isn't necessarily fitness.
