also understand that most of these universities waste so much money on administrative costs. And lets face it, liberal arts degrees are not created equal. Ethnic studies programs are an utter waste.
But I say this as my daughter got her BA in Spanish with a minor in business. Not the most marketable degree, but she understands tht and actually si already working part time where she will get the opportuity to move to a full time position and get the experience she needs to move on, if she chooses. Plus she speaks spanish fluently, which of course is definitely a marketable skill.
But I also have really concerned with the direction of the liberal arts. Classical education has been replaced with thsi post modern garbage that has, IMO, decimated an area of study I loved. I have a degree in English and do value it, especially since i teach HS English and use my degree all the time, but what kids, even at BYU have to do now to earn a BA in English is a joke. HOw do I know???? I know a person who toldme what their senior thesis at BYU was on. It was on..wait for it..."The Importance of Wokeness." AT BYU. I about crapped myself when I heard that.
