That is my point. Saying "There are only 62 schools that compete in Division 1
Women's Gymnastics." to undercut the significants of the championships ignores the fact that it is still the highest level of competitive women's gymnastics outside the olympics. It is not nothing. Using the amount of participation in a different sport, like football where D1 is officially split into 2 different leagues, to make the most elite 62 teams in the country look like a small number is kind of insane. I am not a Utah fan, and obviously gymnastics championships do not weigh as much in my mind as other sports, but saying they aren't valid championships only because there were 62 teams is a dumb argument that no other fanbase in the world would make.
