How many of the 62 were from 1AA schools?
There was never a distinction for gymnastics, they were all just D1, whether they were 1A or 1AA for football (or didn't have football at all).
It seems like you're comparing apples to oranges by using all of D1 for the count of gymnastics schools, and then comparing that to the total of 1A football schools.
