It’s hard for some people to understand that money isn’t the singular decision factor for everyone, especially when it’s more of an optimization question instead of a binary.
He’s going to get paid millions regardless, it’s only a question of how many millions, and on what timetable.
But he can’t ever get paid enough to go back in time and re-experience a stage of life once he leaves it, and he’s clearly mature enough to understand that fact, and weigh it carefully.
I have personally had to make similar decisions, and can attest sometimes the dollars — especially beyond a certain minimum — aren’t always the right answer.
