He’d get next year if he had an injury. Maybe I’m weird, but I don’t chase the most money all the time. I turned down money and actually stepped back to trade money for family time three times in my own life.

I think he’s practically guaranteed to not have to work after basketball either way.

We chase money like it’s a be-all-end-all. But it isn’t. A long time ago I read a quote from a billionaire (I forget who) that said, “Show me 20 billionaires and I’ll show you 19 miserable people.”

I won’t blame him at all if he goes to the NBA. I won’t say it’s a bad decision. I will say there’s a decent chance it will make him happier next year and in the long run if he stays.
