Since BYU is billed as a developmental program, then some players could come in and spend a couple of years like Saunders or Knell - and if they are patient, work and stick with the program, then they can become meaningful contributors to a really good program.
But, I worry that with the "ease" of the transfer portal, the majority of players even on really good teams are not willing to bide their time and learn until they are the next generation up for that team - but instead, want to go somewhere and get time as a featured player NOW.
The reality of the transfer portal, for many players, is that they do NOT land in a situation that puts them in their "dream" scenario. If they land somewhere at all - previous program might move on and they might be left without a team.
All of which is to say - Itejere is one of those players who could benefit from continuing development, but has the athleticism that it's hard to say no if he were willing to come and be a depth piece for the Y.
